At the Boulders of Lake Ridge Apartment Homes in Southwest Lubbock, the discovery of a dead body in the parking lot has some neighbors rattled.

Many of the residents said they'd seen Paul Brown's truck parked illegally since Saturday but never thought to look inside.  When police did so after a 9-1-1 call, they found the dead body of Brown, 48.  Police suspect foul play.

Neighbors say the neighborhood is relatively safe,  but now they're not sure how they feel about where they live.

"It's quiet around here. Everybody's real friendly. You see people running their dogs everyday. Everybody's friendly. I don't know anybody by name, but it's quiet.  No violence," said a female neighbor who asked not to be identified.

"You hear it happening all the time, but when it's near where you live it's scary," the unidentified neighbor added.

Cathy Wells has lived in the apartment complex for 16 years.  Now she says there's a possibility she might move.

"My lease is fixing to be renewed, so...I may think before I sign on the dotted line," Wells said.

"I don't think I will [move] because I've been here so long and I like where I live, but this is disturbing," she said.
