40-year-old Anthony Moya and his wife 26-year-old Gloria Ramirez are charged with seven counts of endangering a child. That after police found filthy living conditions in their home in the two thousand block of Avenue L. Court documents say police were called to the home after Moya called the Calvillo funeral home inquiring about a casket. That after Ramirez had a miscarriage in the bathtub of their home. Not knowing what to do with the fetus, the couple put it in a white plastic baby wipes box which was later handed over to police.
When police arrived at the home to check on the situation, Moya was reluctant to let them in the house, saying it was a mess and they would call Child Protective Services. Moya was arrested and
police went into the house, finding the floors covered in dirty laundry, trash, and diapers. And seven children, all with lice, some with other infections from lack of bathing. In addition, roaches and rats ran rampant, and there was no edible food in the house. Five of the seven children were taken to CPS, the other two to UMC with what appeared to be tick bites, rashes, and possible malnutrition. Ramirez was also taken to UMC for surgery after the miscarriage and her husband taken to jail. Both now face up to 14 years in jail is convicted.
