A single mother of four copes with losing everything when her house went up in flames Friday afternoon. But, tonight she and her children say, amidst the loss, they are thankful for what they do have.
15-year-old Reece Brazil was at home alone, taking a nap, Friday afternoon, when around two o'clock a loud popping noise woke him up. He looked out the window and noticed the house completely engulfed in flames. He immediately called his mom and 911. And while firefighters say the home is a total loss. Reece's mom, Lorna, says she's thankful she was able to salvage a few important things, her piano, some hierloom vases, and some old family photos, which remind her of the true meaning of christmas.
"I think that this Christmas is probably going to be the most special Christmas because of how we are all feeling and presents aren't the most important part", says Lorna Brazil, mother of four.
"I think it will bring us closer together this Christmas and just appreciate each other more and just bring us closer together", says Reece Brazil, who was in the home when the fire broke out.
If you would like to help this family get back on their feet in time for the holidays, friends of the Brazil family have set up a fund at Lubbock National Bank. You can donate at any branch under the Brazil family name.
