Updated: December 14, 2007
Today kindergarten and pre-k students from Lubbock Christian School got in the spirit of giving by dropping off toys at the Toys for Tots tree. The students have been bringing toys to school for the past week, and this morning, they got the chance to meet a marine and drop off those toys. Teachers say theyre just trying to teach their students how important it is to give to others. And the marines sponsoring the toy drive say theyre thankful that these kids are learning such a valuable lesson and helping out Toys for Tots. "we talk to them about how there are kids that dont have much and probably wont get much for christmas and that maybe we can help out," says kindergarten teacher Tammy Hooten. Marine Sgt. JB Bennett says, "I hope they learn that lesson--giving, and giving to those less fortunate than themselves." The marines will be taking toys at the South Plains Mall until Sunday afternoon.
