Some of our men and women in uniform are getting the chance to come home for the holidays.  And one local soldier made his homecoming extra sweet Thursday morning.

As soon as Charles Nance walked off his plane from Fort Benning, Georgia, he dropped to one knee and popped the question to his girlfriend, Liz Durbin.  A big surprise for his now fiancé!

Charles’ mom was in on it the whole time.  She gave the couple their diamond and had it set.  She even did a slick hand-off with the diamond when Charles walked through the gate; just moments before he was able to finally wrap his arms around the woman he loves.

Charles had been attending boot camp since August.  He says he will likely be stationed in Korea for about two years.  Charles says it looks like he won't be able to take the family, but he says he knows they'll pull through.
