In new court documents filed Tuesday, Mike Leach citing specific instances during the 2009 season when he had to deal with disciplinary actions involving Adam James... and then, his father, Craig James. Leach has made it no secret that he believed Craig James to be an over-involved father when it came to his son Adam's playing time… Today, new court documents reveal an instance in September of 2009 when Leach felt the line was crossed.
It started with receivers Coach Lincoln Riley informing adam that he needed to work harder in practice and for the time, was being demoted to the third team. Adam left the office yelling, expletives and slamming the door causing it to split and come off its hinges. He also caused an estimated $1100 in damages.
Then the document states on September the 10th, Craig James called assistant Coach Tommy McVey to "tell him in effect that you coaches are crazy and youre screwing my kid." It continues stating Craig then left a message to Coach Riley saying, "You dont know what youre doing. Adam james is the best player at the wide receiver position. Craig concluded by saying, "If you've got the b_ _ _ _ to call me back, and i dont think you do, call me back." The message was forwarded to Leach and the coach then asked Adam to tell his father to stop calling the coaching staff. Leach believes this is when Craig James began calling Texas Tech officials.
The documents then cite various incidents from the month of Decemebr 2009 when Adam James put forth unacceptable effort in practice or violated team policy by not wearing the proper attire to practice, showing up late and continuing to quote walk the field in a non-chalant way.
We contacted the James family spokesperson and she said the family had no comment on these accusations at this time.
