Give Your Baby "Room to Breathe"

Nearly 400 Texas babies die each year due to unexplained infant deaths. In the past two years, Lubbock has had five such cases. As the number of unexplained deaths rises many experts believe unsafe sleep practices are to blame. Doctors now recommend parents give babies "room to breathe". In other words don't sleep with your baby in your bed. Co-sleeping is a leading cause behind accidental suffocation and experts add cribs should be mostly bare.
"No teddy bears, no dolls, no pillows, no blankets. I know that think has changed a lot in the last few years, but it's really changed for the better," said Dr. Jeremy Dalton, Pediatrician with Covenant Health System.
Doctors also recommend putting your baby to sleep on their back.
