Rodriguez is charged with the 2005 beating of Summer Baldwin... Baldwin's body was found stuffed in a suitcase in the Lubbock landfill. That evidence led investigators to Rodriguez. The crime prompted a capital murder indictment. In may of 2006 Rodriguez confessed to the 2004 murder of Joanna Rogers, told investigators where to find the body and plead guilty to Baldwin's murder; all to avoid a trial and possible death penalty. In October of that year he backed out of the deal. His trial was then set for May of 2007, but his attorney requested a change of venue due to intense publicity of the case. That request was rejected. And now sources tell us that on Wednesday, Rodriguez rejected another deal that would have kept him out of court, and possibly off death row. Jury selection for Rodriguez' trial begins January 23rd.
