MOTORCYCLEFOLO2008-01-07-1199761903.jpgExperts are speaking out about motorcycle safety after a Lubbock teen is dead from a violent motorcycle crash.  Yesterday afternoon, 19-year-old Mauricio Lopez was heading south on Slide, when witnesses say he ran two red lights in a row.

That, after they say he was speeding excessively and weaving in and out of traffic.  Police say Lopez crashed head-on into a Trailblazer at the intersection of 73rd and Slide.  EMS rushed him to UMC where he was pronounced dead.

After hearing the way Lopez was driving and the fact that he wasn't wearing a helmet...experts say he really stood no chance.

"When you get behind the wheels of something that's got power, you want to show this kind of power.  Unfortunately, some of them don't know where to turn the power on at."

Police say the motorcycle was not his and they are still investigating just how Lopez ended up with the bike.
