Red Light Camera January Report

Lubbock's red light cameras are back under the microscope. According to the city's second quarter report, total crashes at red light camera locations are up by almost 50 percent.
Rear-end crashes show the most significant increase.
Revenue from the cameras is also less than what was originally projected.
Mayor David Miller says he's concerned over about the numbers.
"That's why we put them in is to save lives and protect property, and if they're not working like we all had hoped that they would, then we need to listen very carefully to the recommendations of the volunteer committee and consider removal of those red light cameras in due time," said Miller.
The Mayor says the committee will meet later this month to revue the data.
