Most students across the Hub attended classes for the first time in a number of years on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Meg Kattwinkel teaches U.S. History at Lubbock Cooper.  She took today to teach her students the impact of Martin Luther King, Jr. on our country.

The junior high class saw the famous 'I have a dream' speech.  Even though they normally have this day off, the students say they were excited to learn about the civil rights leader.  And Kattwinkel says it's one of her favorite lectures to give.

"That's why I'm a US History teacher is because I'm very passionate about it and I hope they see that passion and that they remember things like this."

The students resumed class today because of scheduling issues earlier in the year.
