Big 12 Honors Kipyego

SallyKipyegoBig12.movFF2008-01-29-1201666994.jpgLUBBOCK, Texas- Texas Tech's Sally Kipyego keeps adding to her list of accolades as she was named the Big 12 Athlete of the Week. It is Tech's first indoor honor of the season. Kipyego was last season's Big 12 Performer of the Year.

Kipyego earned the honor as she ran at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games as the only collegiate invite. Kipyego ran a NCAA automatic qualifying time and finished fifth against the world's best competition, including reigning 10,000 meter world champion Tirunesh Dibaba. Her time of 9:05.45 is the fastest collegiate time in the nation.

The junior Red Raider will be traveling to Seattle, Wash., to compete at the Washington Invitational on Sat., Feb. 2. For results and more information, log on to www.texastech.com.
