The mayor's wife is now at home recovering after suffering a stroke.

A spokesperson for the family says Jayne Ann Miller had been sick for the past week.

On Tuesday, Mayor David Miller took her to University Medical Center where a series of tests revealed she suffered a hemorrhagic stroke, which occurs when a blood vessel bursts inside the brain, and can rapidly damage nearby brain tissue.

This is not the first health scare for Lubbock's first lady.

About fourteen years ago, at the age of forty-four, Jayne Ann suffered a heart attack, and has worn a pacemaker ever since.

Under the circumstances, Jayne Ann is faring remarkably well says Kim Davis, spokesperson for the Miller family.

"She has no paralysis, no slurred speech. She is being sent home with a lot of recommendations of rest," said Davis.

Davis says this will not change Miller's decision to run for reelection.
