Local drug officials say crystal methamphetamine is still on top of their list when fighting the war on drugs.

The Narcotics Division of the Department of Public Safety says we have seen a significant decrease in meth labs over the past few years; however it is still making it's way through Lubbock by way of Mexico, California and Arizona.

Officials say the second drug of concern is marijuana, mainly because many don’t consider it a serious drug.

Third on the list is cocaine.  Officials say the cost of cocaine has gone down ... And they are concerned that means there is a good amount around.

Fourth is heroin.  Officials say they've seen a rise in user arrests; not necessarily in dealing.

Finally, with this being a college town, officials say they always have their eyes peeled for ecstasy and the abuse of prescription drugs.

Narcotics officials say a great thing about the South Plains is that agencies work together on investigations.  They say it helps catch dealers far more efficiently.
