Turns out our West Texas winds do more than just give you a bad hair day, they can actually help power your home.A Bovina family decided to take advantage of the wind power.. and installed a wind turbine in their backyard. The Neal family named their wind turbine 'Sally.' Now after 12 months of using sally, the Neal's say their electric bills have been cut in half.
The turbine cost around $10,000 dollars to install, but should pay for itself in less than five years.
Dottie Neal says she feels like everyone who can....should use our winds to save our planet.
"I feel like our wind is a crop. And you should utilize it, you should use it. I see the coal train go by every single day and if I could eliminate one coal car from that train with my turbine, I'd be happy."
