Spur I.S.D. has been hit hard by a virus spreading through the schools...and now the students have been temporarily dismissed.School officials say Monday morning they had over 40 students out sick and by Tuesday afternoon they were up to 80...that's over 25 percent of their entire student population.
So the students and faculty for the elementary, junior high, and high school are all out of class for the rest of the week. Spur's superintendent Earl Jarrett says this illness has also spread throughout the town.
"We are a close community, these people go to church together and come to school together so I think with a close-knit community and everybody's either at the ball game or at school or something, it probably helps to that kind of illness spreading more rapidly."
Classes will be back in session on Monday...and they expect most everyone to be much better by then.
