Folks in Plainview are one step closer to being able to buy alcohol within their city limits.  Plainview's City Council unanimously accepted the city's alcohol ordinance at Tuesday night's meeting, but as you may remember, last November's citizens vote to sell alcohol was far from unanimous.  It only passed by 36-votes. Now, even though the law has been officially accepted by the city, it could still be months before alcohol hits Plainview store shelves.

"It sounds like the ordinance has passed and now we will sell alcohol, but its not quite that quick and simple ... because its out of our hands. Our goal is to get our part done as quickly as possible," says Plainview City Manager Greg Ingham.

Alcohol cannot be sold in Plainview until businesses have been approved for a liquor license.

The city has already received six applications and expect several more in the coming days.
