7/23/06 Paul Fioroni announced Sunday night on KLBK-13`s Sunday Sports Extra that he will end his six-year run with the Lubbock Cotton Kings, and retire from ice hockey. "It`s time for me to move on to bigger and better things," said the 30-year-old Fioroni. "I`m thankful to the organization, the City of Lubbock, and the fans for giving me memories I`ll cherish forever." Fioroni has accepted the position to become the new head coach for the Texas Tech Club Ice Hockey Team. The official announcement is expected Monday afternoon. Paul hopes the Red Raiders can one day compete on the NCAA Division-I level. "My goal is to win games," said Fioroni. "Number two, to put together an entertaining product and a great hockey team." The Lubbock Cotton Kings along with the new addition of Texas Tech will assist in fund-raising this upcoming season to help keep Fioroni`s 24-Foundation running.
