8/1/06 In a press conference on Tuesday, the Lubbock Cotton Kings discussed the new lease with the City of Lubbock and explained to the public this new deal will not affect tax dollars. The Cotton Kings told KLBK Monday night this newly signed deal will not affect tax-payers money. The Cotton Kings plan to stress to the public in Tuesday`s conference that the money the hockey team earns will be from ticket sales and consessions. The Kings also told KLBK Monday night that the lease is a one-year deal, and with it being the begining of August, and two months away from the start of the season, a deal needed to be in place. The Kings say the next lease the team makes with the city is expected to be longer than one year. A new multi-year deal with the City of Lubbock and the Cotton Kings could be agreed upon as early as the end of the calendar year, February of 2007 at the latest.
