University Medical Center is full to capacity and for the first time ever they're having to turn away some patients. UMC officials say they are in a Code Purple. That means every patient bed in the hospital is full and some admitted patients have overflowed into emergency room beds. UMC spokesman Greg Bruce says the outbreak of flu and other seasonal illnesses is fueling the problem. They're only turning away transfer patients from other area hospitals and direct referrels from local doctor offices. The emergency room is still open. Covenant is also very busy, but they are running normally for now.
