Callie Long Found Guilty

Former Lubbock realtor Callie Long is has been found guilty of failure to stop in render aid in the death of bicyclist Brett Walrath.
The jury spent nearly eight hours deliberating before handing down the verdict.
Wednesday morning, the court moved to the punishment phase.
The defense is asking for the minimum punishment, probation, and the prosecution is seeking the maximum, five years in prison.
The prosecutor called friends and family members of Walrath to the stand.
They painted a picture of Walrath as an athlete, a hard worker, a loving husband, and a man eager to be a father to his son, Christian, who is now four years old.
Friends and family members recounted the day Walrath met his newborn son at Lakeridge Nursing Facility.
His wife put their son on her husbands chest, and in his vegetative state, tears streamed down his face.
The defense called character witnesses on behalf of Long, who highlighted her volunteer work in the community, her remorse for the victim, and her compliant behavior since the incident.
Testimony continues tomorrow before the jury decided her sentence.
