After signing Vincente Padilla on Sunday and Kenny Lofton on Monday, the Texas Rangers raid the free agent market again today, signing closer Eric Gagne to a one year deal worth six million dollars. The deal is pending Gagne passes a physical. The 2003 Cy Young winner spent the past five seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but only appeared in 16 games the past two seasons. The Rangers are also believed to have an offer on the table for free agent starter Barry Zito, but no word on whether a deal is imminent. The Houston Astros also made a move today, pulling the trigger on a trade that will send centerfielder Willy Taveras and pitchers Taylor Buccholz and Jason Hirsh to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for starter Jason Jennings and reliever Miguel Asencio. Jennings is the big name in the deal and he was 9-13 this past season for the Rockies.
