People living in west Lubbock are out of luck when it comes to bus routes. Citibus has decided to cancel two of their routes, leaving some disabled Lubbockites without a way to travel. This week, Citibus decided to cancel routes 20 and 82 out in west Lubbock. The routes opened last March, but Citibus officials say there just havent been enough people riding and theyre losing money. But now, disabled Lubbockites like Dirk Ray say they have no way to get around The Hub City! "Its very important," he says. "I dont drive at all, I work on the bus route, I live on the bus route, I buy my groceries through the bus...I moved to a bigger city so I could have a bus route available to me, and now theyre taking it away." Says Melinda Harvey of Citibus, "We dont take lightly any sort of a decision to cut ridership, we really dont. This is something we reached after a great deal of discussion and anguish because we hate to put something out there and then take it away."
