Knight One Win Shy of Smith

Little Rock, AK (Sports Network) - Texas Tech head coach Bob Knight is now just one game away from tying Dean Smith for most career victories in NCAA Division I history after notching win number 878 in a 71-56 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks. Charlie Burgess lead the Red Raiders (9-3) in scoring with 19 points, while Jarrius Jackson and Martin Zeno each netted 17. Charles Thomas posted a game-high 21 points to lead the Razorbacks (8-2), and Darian Townes netted 10 points while grabbing eight rebounds. Texas Tech held Arkansas to a mere 34.8 percent shooting effort from the field during the first period, while connecting on 58.3 percent of it`s own attempts to take a 35-22 lead into the break. In the second half, the Red Raiders shot 50.0 percent from the floor, in addition to converting 13-of-18 shots from the foul line en route to a 15- point victory. Knight now has the chance to tie the record of 879 career wins at home against Bucknell on December 23rd. 12/16 17:25:40 ET
