Restrictions on watering your lawn officially begin April 1st in Lubbock.

Those restrictions mean you cannot water your lawn between and .  However you can water by hand or use soaker hoses anytime.  Plus, if you have a brand new lawn, you have 3 weeks to get the lawn established.

Water officials say watering your plants late at night or in the early morning actually makes a lot of sense.  They say plants flourish when they are watered in the morning so they can use the water throughout the day.

Lubbock is also in a Drought Contingency Plan.  That plan restricts watering to two days a week.  Watering on those two days must be before and after .
