An apparent drug bust in North Lubbock turns dangerous when the suspect tries to drive off and ends up crashing into three other cars. The wreck happened around 6 Thursday evening at 4th Street and Avenue R.  Police say they had tried to pull over the driver of this gray Durango up near 19th street, but he took off.  They say he ignored the stop sign on Ave. R, hit red car, and then bailed out and ran.  His SUV continued the wrong way down 4th Street and hit 2 other cars.

"[It was] scary.  We were screaming. It was coming straight at us and I thought it was going to land on top of us because it was coming full blast ... it hit us on the side," says Esmelda Rodriquez, one of the victims of the crash.

Officers caught up with the suspect about a block away at Walgreens and took him into custody.  Witnesses say soon after the wreck, officers with the Drug Enforcement Agency swarmed the scene and gathered evidence from the suspect's car.  His name is not being released and charges are pending, but we'll keep you updated on any new details.
