Local high school students got a taste of what it would feel like to lose a friend to drunk driving.

Students, law enforcement, and emergency personnel staged a wreck at Estacado High School.

The students watched as one of their classmates was arrested and charged with intoxicated manslaughter.

They saw several others critically injured, even killed.

With prom less than two weeks away, students and teachers agree this was a moving demonstration.

"Hopefully we can stop one person... and save one life," said Lucio Trevino, Estacado's criminal justice instructor.
