LUBBOCK, TX - The snow didn`t stop the Big XII showdown at the United Spirit Arena today. Texas Tech hosted the Kansas Jayhawks this afternoon before a crowd of 11,000 plus, including a record showing from the Texas Tech students. The fans certainly saw a great game, although it didn`t look good early on for the Red Raiders. Kansas forced 3 straight Texas Tech turnovers and Kansas jumped out to an 8-0 lead. But, Texas Tech would get right back on track, thanks in large part to the "Jayhawk Killer", Darryl Dora. Dora led all scorers with 19 points including three crucial three pointers. Tech took a 3 point lead into halftime, and in the second half, went up by as many as 12 points before the Jayhawks would come all the way back to tie it at 62 with nearly a minute to play. But, Jay Jackson, who didn`t hit a field goal in the first half, would come alive in the second, scoring 12 points and giving Tech a 3 point lead off a three point play with under a minute to go. And, with under 25 seconds, the Jayhawks turned to Sherron Collins to tie the game with a three, but his shot was off. Charlie Burgess was there to pick up the rebound and he found a streaking Martin Zeno down court for the dunk that sealed the game for the Red Raiders. The fans rushed the court and all pandemonium ensued once the Red Raiders had completed the 69-64 upset of the Kansas Jayhawks.
