Beer and wine could soon be on its way to Terry County as a group of Brownfield residents start a petition to put the proposition on the November ballot. The group of 12 picked up the petition from the County Clerk's office earlier this week. They are now in the process of collected signatures from 35 percent of Terry County registered voters. That comes to 888, and they have to have all signatures collected in just 60 days. If they are collected and prove to be valid, the proposition will be on the November ballot.

This is the third petition to bring alcohol sales to Terry County. The first being in the twenties and then another in the early eighties. If folks have questions or want to sign the petition, the TABC and the residents organizing the petition are holding a public hearing tomorrow night at Brownfield City Hall at 7pm.
