The Lubbock Fire Department is hoping to start a new project to remember fallen fire fighters.  Fire officials will be asking the Lubbock City Council to approve a resolution to name local fire stations in memory of those killed in the line of duty.

The Lubbock Fire Department has lost seven fire fighters.  Officials say families of those fallen fire fighters had expressed interest in memorializing their loved ones this way for quite a while.

The resolution will be up for a vote at the city council meeting Thursday.
