MAYOR_SDEBATE-VO2008-04-29-1209520607.jpgAll four mayoral candidates debated for the first time this election season.  Current mayor David Miller, former mayor pro temp Tom Martin, Roger Settler and Gilbert Montes gathered at the KFYO radio studio Tuesday morning to debate the issues facing the city.  Minority recruiting by city departments, the Chippendale's fiasco and the city visitor center were all subjects that arose during the debate.  Tom Martin raised some eyebrows as the subject of Lubbock's water restrictions were brought up.  Martin suggested that if someone violates the restrictions multiple times their water should be cut off.  To that Mayor Miller responded "did you hear with Mr. Martin just said?  He wants to cut your water off.  You can't wash your dishes, you can't take a shower, you can't wash your baby?"
Early voting for the election is going on now.  Election day is May 10th.
