Lubbock, Texas (Cotton Kings Press Release) - Former Lubbock Cotton Kings netminder Shawn Conschafter stopped 29 of 30 shots on net lifting the Amarillo Gorillas to a 2-1 victory over the Lubbock Cotton Kings Friday night at City Bank Coliseum. Amarillos Rich Hansen got the scoring started at 3:28 of the first period as he slipped the puck past Lubbock goaltender J.F. Perras. In the second period, Amarillo out-shot the Cotton Kings 17-6 and they were able to increase their lead to two. The Gorillas Keith Detlefsen lit the lamp at the 14:12 mark of the second period for the 2-0 advantage.
Lubbock would finally get on the board at 5:37 of the third period with a tally from Jimmy Callahan, as he sent a wrister into the back of the net at the doorstep of the crease. The Kings out-shot the Gorillas 16-7 in the third period and tried to rally for the comeback with some late chances, but unfortunately for the Cotton Kings, Callahans goal stood as their only score of the evening.
