KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Trevor Stringer of Wayland Baptist (Texas) University has been selected as the NAIA Baseball Pitcher of the Week while Chase Burch of Auburn University at Montgomery (Ala.) was awarded the NAIA Baseball Player of the Week for April 21-27. These are the final NAIA national baseball weekly awards for the 2008 season.
Stringer, a 5-11 freshman from Lubbock, Texas was a streak stopper in his performance against No. 1 Lubbock Christian (Texas) last Saturday. Trevor went 8.2 innings recording 10 strike outs and held a LCU offense that averaged over 10 runs to just one in the 7-1 Wayland Baptist victory. He came one out away from the complete-game shutout and halted LCU’s 38-game winning streak. The one run allowed was just the second time all year that LCU was held to one or no runs. Stringer walked one batter and gave up just one extra base hit.
