College Station, TX (Sports Network) - Jarrius Jackson nailed a jumper as time expired, lifting Texas Tech to a 77-75 upset win over sixth-ranked Texas A&M in a Big 12 battle at Reed Arena.
Jackson posted a game-high 31 points for the Red Raiders (16-10, 5-6 Big 12), who halted their five-game losing streak. Martin Zeno added 19 points, five rebounds and six assists, and Decensae White contributed 10 points for Bobby Knight`s team, which helped "The General" avoid his first six-game losing streak since 1971.
Acie Law poured in 23 points and dished out four assists while Antanas Kavaliauskas scored 18 points and grabbed eight boards before fouling out for the Aggies (21-4, 9-2), who had their 21-game home winning streak snapped in dramatic fashion. Joseph Jones netted 18 on 8-of-12 shooting from the field in a losing cause.
After Law nailed an off-balance three-pointer from the top of the key with six seconds to play to tie the game at 75, Tech sped the ball down court in Jackson`s hands, and his leaning buzzer-beater provided the Raiders with a thrilling two-point victory.
Down by seven at halftime, Texas Tech came alive late in the game, as White`s long two gave Tech a 67-63 lead with 3:36 to play. Zeno would make two free throws for a 73-68 advantage with 85 seconds left in regulation, but Jones` bucket cut the lead to three at 73-70 on the Aggies` next trip down the floor.
However, A&M`s Dominique Kirk fouled out with 44.8 seconds to play, and Jackson hit one-of-two for a four-point margin, then Jones responded by hitting a put-back with 32 ticks left and it was 74-72.
