Lady Chaps Dominate All-Sac Team

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma: A record-setting pitcher from St. Gregory's and the shortstop from
first-year program Lubbock Christian head the Sooner Athletic
Conference's All-Conference Softball Team for 2008.

Sharon Bell, who set a NAIA career strikeout record, and Lubbock
Christian junior Raquel Hawkins were named SAC Pitcher and Player of the
Year, respectively. Shannon Hays of Lubbock Christian is the SAC Coach
of the Year in his first season.
 
Hawkins hit .474 for the season with 13 home runs and 70 runs batted
in. She led the SAC in batting and RBI for the season. Her RBI total
ranks third in the NAIA.

Bell struck out 400 batters this season alone, leading the league with
14.23 per seven innings. She also led the NAIA with 33 wins this season.
She had a 1.25 earned run average.

Hays led the Lady Chaps to a third-place finish in the SAC and a
possible national tournament berth with a 46-7 overall record.

Joining Hawkins on the All-Conference infield are Ginalee Davis of LCU,
Tracy Washam of Oklahoma Christian, Kasey Hobens of Oklahoma City, Honda
Rodriguez of LCU and Jackie Kopacek of Northwestern Oklahoma State.

The rest of the pitching staff includes Marissa Gonzalez of LCU and
Kelli Dunagan of Rogers State.

The catchers are Amanda Parsons of LCU and Erin Slettvet of Oklahoma
City.


The outfielders are Melody Murphy of Oklahoma City, Lisa Stratton of
LCU, Christin Dobbs of Oklahoma Christian and Jami Pate of Oklahoma
Baptist.

Also on the first team are utility players Gabby Woody of LCU and Jayme
Boyer of Oklahoma Baptist along with designated player Kelly Griego of
LCU.
