Austin, TX (Sports Network) - A.J. Abrams scored 18 points and Kevin Durant had 17 points and seven rebounds to lead 19th-ranked Texas to an 80-51 rout of Texas Tech.
D.J. Augustin had 16 points and Justin Mason had 13 for the Longhorns (20-7, 10-3 Big 12), who have won four straight and seven of nine. Damion James rounded out the double-figure scores for Texas with 12 points, as the Longhorns thrashed their intrastate opponent.
Alan Voskuil led a lackluster offensive effort for the Red Raiders (17-11, 6-7), who had a two-game win streak halted and lost for the sixth time in eight outings.
The lone highlight for the Red Raiders came early when Voskuil hit the game`s opening basket for Tech`s only lead of the contest. James responded with a bucket and Justin Mason`s three-pointer 1:26 into the game gave the Longhorns the led for good.
Texas later increased the lead to 25-9 after a 16-2 run and Mason`s three- pointer with 4:38 left in the half gave the Longhorns their largest lead of the half, 46-24, and Texas cruised into the break with a 48-26 cushion.
The second half was much of the same. The lead increased to 30 points, 70-40, on an Abrams three-pointer with 9:32 left and later hit 33 points, 80-47, following Augustin`s trey with 3:01 remaining.
Tech lost both meetings this season to the Longhorns by a combined 41 points.
