Police say Oklahoma Man Beat Wife Inside Lubbock Motel

An Oklahoma woman remains in serious condition tonight at UMC, after police say her husband brutally beat her inside a Lubbock motel. Just before 7:00 Monday morning, police say 37-year-old Arthur Dean Swagger called 911, saying his wife was accidently injured.  When paramedics arrived at the Motel 6 off the Interstate, they determined Swagger's story about how his wife got hurt did not match up with her injuries. 


They also found moderate injuries on one of the young children staying in the room.  EMS called in police to investigate.   Detectives say the woman had a protective order against Swagger in Oklahoma so, they're investigating if she was staying here in Lubbock with her husband willingly or if he was holding her captive.  Swagger is being held on charges of aggravated assault, injury to a child, violation of a protective order, and sexual assault.
