Construction Accident

BuildingCollapsePKG2008-06-10-1213149692.jpgTwo men are in serious condition at UMC after a construction collapse in North Overton on Tuesday.

According to McDougal Construction, a crane malfunction caused a slab of iron fell on the third floor of a parking garage causing the collapse.

Fire officials say the two men are expected to recover, and building engineers are now investigating the incident.

Mike McDougal, president of McDougal Construction said he doesn't know when the project will be able to continue.

"Our primary concern is for our workers," said McDougal. "We'll follow up with the rest later."

McDougal said the sight had just been inspected and passed on Monday.
