It could save Lubbock County $180,000, but the commissioners say it could hurt county services.

The idea of a four day work week for court employees across the board may be dead, but now the county may use a flex schedule to increase hours without suffering the costs.

Commissioner Bill McCay says employees, who are capable, may be able to work ten hours a day for four days out of the week.  Employees unable to take on the new schedule will work a standard five day week.

"Then that's a win-win situation," says McCay.  "If we can keep cost the same and expand county services, I think that's the direction we would be more interested in doing."

The original purpose of the new schedules was to save on energy costs.
