Could the Lubbock airport be closing? A new study by the business travel coalition says yes. The study released today lists 150 cities that are most in jeopardy of losing some of their airline service. The coalition looked at things like high fuel prices and proximity to larger airports. It says Lubbocks airport is one of 16 Texas airports that could severly struggle as gas prices continue to affect the airline industry. Airport officials say the claim is simply not true. But add that airlines *may cut a few flights to save money. Says James Loomis of Lubbock International Airport, "They are for profit companies and they need to do what they need to do keep in business and in the air. It may and Im saying it may cost Lubbock a flight here and there."
