Today may be the 5th, but people in the South Plains are still celebrating the 4th of July. Residents in New Deal have not forgotten what it means to honor and celebrate our countrys freedom. This mornings parade kicked off a full day of festivities. Participants in the parade threw candy to everyone who lined the streets. People who live in New Deal say their parade can be a welcome change from crowds in Lubbock. Resident Lisa Cole was happy to bring her one-year-old to a smaller hometown parade. "Everything in Lubbock is so big so it was kinda nice to come to something small and know that she could walk around and be free and not have to worry about crowds," says Cole.
