LUBBOCK, Texas - Three former Red Raiders will be headed to the Beijing Olympics for the Bahamian and Jamaican Olympic teams. Mike Mathieu, Andrae Williams will be on the Bahamian squad and Shereefa Lloyd will be competing for Jamaica.

Mathieu, a four-time All-American while at Tech, will be apart of the 4x40M relay team as well former Red Raider teammate Andrae Williams. Mathieu and Williams are school record holders of both the indoor and outdoor 4x400M relays. Mathieu will also run the 400M in Beijing.

Lloyd will be apart of the Jamaican 4x400M relay team. She was an All-American in the 400M while at Tech and owns the school record in the 400M.
Patience Knight's bid to make the U.S. Olympic squad came up short. She finished 12th in the finals of the shot put with a throw of 52'-9.50".

Six-time All-American Shawon Harris made it through the first two round of the 110M hurdles. He finished 11th in the qualifying round with a time of 13.62. During the quarterfinals he ran a time of 13.63 to qualify for the semis. Harris failed to qualify for the finals but ran a time of 13.57.
Texas Tech's strength and conditioning coach Jason Young finished ninth in the finals of the men's discus with a throw of 197'-10".

The 2008 Olympics will be held in Beijing, China from Aug. 15th to the 24th.
