South Plains Food Bank in Need of Food

The South Plains Food Bank is busy making sure Lubbock families don't go hungry this summer.
Gas and food prices aren't the only things increasing...so has the demand for food from the food bank.
A local Methodist church provides food vouchers every Tuesday for those who need the food bank's services.
Volunteers there say the number of people needing vouchers has nearly doubled in recent months.
One local family says that every little bit helps. "When they give us beans and rice and stuff like that, they make our grocery bills go a lot further because we can cook those and eat two or three days."
If you would like to help the food bank, you can.
It's holding it's summer food drive this week.
You can donate non-perishable foods at Market Street on 50th Street and Indiana.
