Gas Prices Hurting Lubbock Tourism?

Summer is certainly the biggest season for tourism, but with gas prices up, is Lubbocks tourism down? We talked to folks at the Visitors Bureau who say that high gas prices might actually be a good thing for Lubbock.. People are traveling less and shying away from longer trips to places like Dallas or Austin, which means theyre staying right here at home to find summer fun. Those from surrounding West Texas and New Mexico communities are also making that shorter drive to discover what The Hub. Says Abie Cox of the Visitors Bureau, "Were excited just to get tourists, and we call Lubbockites tourists as well in our own backyard, so its just a great experience for us to have everybody stay home or travel short distances to come and see us."
