Local parents have shown concern over an event hall called Robin Hood's Castle.

The facility is just southwest of the Lubbock City line and is owned by a man named Parker Hinesly.

In 2003, Hinesly was charged with indecency with a child. The trial ended in a hung jury, and Hinesly pleaded no contest to abuse of a child because he left a bruise on a child's arm after disciplining him.

This is where parents are concerned.

Robin Hood's Castle is advertised on Craig's List as not only a reception hall, but a place to hold children's parties.

"How could he put himself in a situation where it (accusations) could happen again?" asked Rod Hobson, the prosecuting attorney in Hinesly's 2003 court case.

Hinesly said he and concerned parents have nothing to worry about.

He was never convicted of indecency with a child and has never had any sexual contact with a child.

"I have worked with kids for 32 years and had no issues until a woman with mental problems made accusations," said Hinesly. "She had been hospitalized and such. (She) Thought I had money, and that just wasn't the case."

Hinesly said he understands parents concerns, and is just happy that they are showing concern for their chidren's welfare.

Hinesly no longer lives in the Lubbock area, and said he rarely has direct dealings with Robin Hood's Castle other than taking bookings over the phone.

Hobson said he is also glad that parents are taking the time to ask questions.
