Experts are saying wind is the energy of the future and at least one local company has already jumped on the renewable energy bandwagon.
Pyco industries is owned by 58 gins in the area that collectively are the second largest users of electricity in Lubbock, only behind Texas Tech.  Recently, Pyco decided to try to reduce their cost of energy by constructing a wind farm of ten turbines in East Lubbock. Pyco President Gail Kring says it took years of planning and construction to get the turbines up and running, but now that they are, the company is expecting to see major returns.  He says for right now the power the wind farm produces will only be used on Pyco facilities, but he believes more Texas companies will be turning to wind power soon.

Pyco officials say if the turbines do what they're expecting they may put up more in the future. They say these turbines should pay for themselves within the next seven years.
