Alcohol Zoning

Lubbock City Council passed an ordinance to allow the city manager to begin zoning for if and when Lubbock ever legalizes packaged alcohol sales. The vote passed 4-2. Councilman Todd Klein said it was the responsible thing to do, and if an election does come about for alcohol sales, people will be able to see the full picture and know where future liquor stores would be located.
Councilman Floyd Price and Councilwoman Linda DeLeon were the the two votes against.
Both said they feel this ordinance is jumping the gun.
Price said outright he doesn't like alcohol sales, but if the people vote and say they want it, he will submit to the will of the voters.
