hurricanevictimpkg2008-07-15-1216174178.jpgA unique story of a Hurricane Katrina evacuee brought to Lubbock in 2005.

Three years later, Arthur Martin still calls the Hub City home.

Arthur is a Vietnam veteran who spends his time helping the folks who helped him when he arrived here.

Every Tuesday, he volunteers at St. John's Methodist Church, handing out food vouchers to those in need.

"This, I think, is my job, to help out these people that helped me so well," Arthur says.

Although he misses New Orleans, Arthur told us he doesn't have any plans to move out of Lubbock.

Arthur says, "People are a lot nicer and they look out for each other here."
