A former athletics trainer at Lubbock Cooper is in trouble tonight for improper relations with a student. 37-year-old Patrick Brown turned himself into authorities Wednesday afternoon.
The victim only recently came out stating trainer Brown molested her starting in 2003. She was 16 at the time, and says it went on until she graduated at age 18. She says the abuse occured almost every day after school and now she's going through counseling which inspired her to file a report.
Major Don Carter, Lubbock Co. Sheriff's Office:
"If this had been reported at the time of the incident, then it probably would have been beneficial. We'd rather know about it sooner than later...as would the school. There again, if they don't know that something is wrong, they can't fix it."
Brown was officially charged yesterday for sexual assault and improper relations with a student. He resigned from his training position at the end of this school year after eleven years at Lubbock Cooper. He is being held on a $50,000 dollar bond.
